Data from our CLM work showed high number of people living with HIV unaware of the India HIV/AIDS Act 2017.
Subsequently, CoNE organized different sets of awareness camps on the act in collaboration with relevant government legal departments.
Impact of our work is evident with people living with HIV, mostly women, coming forward to share instances of stigma and discrimination and deciding to take legal course to address their situations.
We recorded 6 women coming forward in the last three months seeking legal assistance. Some of the instances reported are of unauthorized disclosure of HIV status, denial of inheritance rights and discrimination based on HIV status within the same family settings.
