Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) findings collected by Yayasan Peduli Hati Bangsa (YPHB) identified several barriers affecting access to hepatitis C treatment in Indonesia, including patient waiting lists despite adequate national medicine stocks, inconsistent treatment duration calculations, mismatched medicine collection schedules, and discrepancies in medicine allocation between health facilities.
In January 2026, YPHB presented these findings to the Indonesian Ministry of Health, facilitating a constructive dialogue on strengthening access to hepatitis C medicines. Following the discussion, the Ministry agreed to improve coordination on medicine distribution, review the causes of facility-level waiting lists, standardize treatment duration calculations, strengthen medicine planning and allocation processes, and continue regular coordination with YPHB to address emerging access barriers.
This engagement demonstrates how Community-Led Monitoring can generate evidence that informs national-level decision-making, strengthens collaboration between communities and government, and contributes to more reliable and uninterrupted access to hepatitis C treatment in Indonesia.
