During a CLM interview, a 26-year-old woman living with HIV reported experiencing mental harassment and discrimination from her boyfriend following their elopement due to her HIV-positive status.
The case was referred to the State Ombudsman, which ruled in favour of the complainant. As a result, she was awarded compensation of INR 30,000 to support her medical treatment expenses.
This case demonstrates how CLM can help identify human rights violations, facilitate access to justice, and secure remedies for people living with HIV.
